Believe in an early beginning

Talent is learning plus hard work

All children can pursue excellence. Parents should give children the mindset of anything can be achieved from hardwork. Once the child does something right, praise them for their achievement and effort. Acknowledge the EFFORT, not the child. The work process is important.

Something for parents to think about

Parental involvement: willingness to learn with kids, willing to be exposed to music

Children are:

  • Fast learners

  • Curious

  • Keen to get instructions (making corrections)

  • Good at imitating

There is no such thing as inborn talent. GOOD practice makes perfect!

Children have:

  • Potential

  • Good memories

  • No problem with repetition

  • The urge to please their parents

Character first, then ability

                                                              Music can offer:

  • Discipline

  • Perseverance

  • Confidence

  • Time Management

  • Self-Expression

  • Poise

  • Self Esteem

Parent Orientation
  • Integrity
  • Respect
  • Patient
  • Communication (verbal and non-verbal)
  • Stage Presence
  • Realize Potential

"If parents don't have a music background, they cannot teach their child." This statement is false. Parents are the mentors, supporters, and role models for their children. To create a successful talent education, parents plays the most important role, which is creating the environment for their kids to learn. The perspectives of both teacher and parent are important, relevant , and worthy of respect.

Our teacher is here to help parents learn how to:

  • Become home teachers

  • Suggest how to practice, listen to recordings, take notes

  • Affirming and encouraging the parents' roles.

Parents' Responsibilities:

  • Play the recordings

  • Attend lessons and take notes

  • Practice with the child (under13) , being the teacher's assistant at home

  • Becoming aware of how the child learns

  • Learning the basic skills of the instrument

  • Observing and learning from other children's lessons

"A seed is planted ... [but] we don't see when the germination beings. That's the doing of Mother Nature; it is the fundamental working principle. We have to wait patiently. We cannot dig up the seed to see whether it is really growing...Suddently a bud appears. What a joy and pleasure to watch it grow! At the same time, the root, unseen in the ground is getting stronger and has the power to produce a big, sturdy tree." (Nurtured by Love, p.45)
